OK, here's the hall of Grunnen Rocks fame, this old motherfucker released some great records and back in 1998 he released his best (as far as I'm concerned), totally cool record, all songs are excellent, easily the best record of that year |
insane noise from Kalamazoo, Michigan, the best anti-church therapy I know, the singer, Mike Hard, burned a bible at the last VERA show, well Mike do that to me one more time ... |
another band I had imagined to be in my top ten, but while making this list I ended up with them on 17, classic nevertheless, a big influence for 40% of the bands on this website, so here's to The Cramps: THANK YOU !!! |
one of the best bands I ever saw live, the best being a show back in 1996 in (my god of all places) Hengelo (The Netherlands), 25 people only, 10 of 'm from Groningen and my goodness what a night, eternal stardom to these Ohio-monsters of lonely angstfilled garagerock |
the best noiseband ever, should have been in the top 10, anyway ... a total must for anybody with a noisy heartbeat |
the second highest non-US band on the list, essential swampy bluesrock from down under, back in the eighties a real (though overlooked) hit, essential |
NYC's (garage)rock-heroes, a family tree worth writing a book about, great band, what more can/do I need to say ? |
Ohio - legends, made 5 regular albums and one (later on released) livealbum, no bad track to find on 'm, a family tree which makes the royal family jealous, the combined heritage of them and Pussy Galore, Honeymoon Killers and the no. 1 in this list was, is and will always be the core of this website really |
the highest non-Grunnen rocks band in the list, for six or seven years my alltime fave band, until I discovered VERA and it's cool music, love to David "everything I do refers to women and their names" Byrne |
OK, here's the top 10, first up: you know 'm, the red-and-white lovecouple from Detroit |
the highest non-US and the highest european band, legendary punk from Oslo, Norway, heya Norge, great liveband and if you don't own their Apocalypse Dudes album ... |
over the last years in it's entirety the best liveband I've seen, starting way back in 1993 I'll see 'm for the seventh time in VERA (it's their seventh show in the club, the seventh I'll see of 'm, all of'm naturally there too) in december ... afterwards they're rumoured to stop touring (ah .... ?) |
early sixtiesband from Seattle, classic garagerock which you need to have for sure, I think this is the first cool band actually from that city ... at least their first records are available and a must |
NYC punk at it's best, saw 'm twice, their records (especially the first three or four) are excellent ... Hey Ho, Let's Go forever and ever and ever ... |
classic garagerock from the mid of the nineties, never saw 'm as they never were in Europe, the first band in the top 10 with Mr. Mighty Mick Collins |
I guess this is for most of you the most surprising band in the top 10, anyway very cool punkrock from LA, classic liveband, 20 years running, great vocals, great records |
Memphis, Tennessee trashy AND soulfull garagerock from the nineties, a great family tree, no bad tracks ever, essential "rock'n'roll sexmuziek", this is the first track I ever played as a DJ in VERA |
lots of you thought this would be my number one and the other half knew they wouldn't be, well they're not, but I sure do love 'm all the way |
no surprises here for the people who visit this website for longer than a year, classic Detroit garagerock from the early nineties, the best band I never saw live, damn ... |
